One week programme:

Business English

English for specific purposes (ESP)

  • Develop knowledge of language and key terminology used within a specific work environment.
  • Gain confidence in the use of the specific terminology.

Exam preparation

  • Gain an understanding of the examination criteria, lay-out and process.

General English

  • Further improve on a wide scope of vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing and use of English.

Agriculture in Wales

  • Gain an understanding of he agriculture industry in North Wales.
  • Experience what life would be like within a Welsh agricultural college.
  • See how farmers in Wales have adapted to the changing demands of the of the agriculture industry.
  • Learn about alternative land use opportunities within the countryside.

History of Chester

  • To map the history of one of the UK’ s most unique cities.
  • Develop and understand the history of the city and what affect it has had on the Chester as we know it today and the UK as a whole .
  • Recognise the various features, architecture and landmarks throughout history. Improve the four language skills – Oral, listening, reading, writing.

Democracy and press freedom

  • Develop awareness and critical approach towards press freedom as a precondition and foundation of a democratic political system.
  • To produce a journalistic piece, both written and media- specific web publication.
  • Provide students with theoretical skills and basic techniques appropriate to publish journalistic content through technology 2.0
  • Improve the four language skills- Speaking, listening, reading, writing.

The environment: conservation and sustainability

  • Understand the roles and history of local and national organisation tasked with looking after the environment.
  • Learn methodologies and technologies related to conservation and sustainability.
  • Develop English language using the 4 skills of reading, listening, speaking, and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary – English lessons will be based around terminology specific to the project.

Food and Interculture

  • Knowledge is designing, preparing and executing a well balanced menu.
  • Gain an understanding of the culinary attitude and fashions in the UK.
  • Improve cooking and hospitality skills with lessons from members of the National Culinary Association.
  • Develop English language using the 4 skills of reading,listening, speaking and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary.

Diversity and English

  • Develop awareness and critical approach towards diversity and what is meant by the terms associated with ‘diversity’.
  • Provide students with theoretical skills and basic techniques appropriate to creating their own diversity festival in their respective communities.
  • Increase the understanding of life in a multicultural society.

 Slow Tourism 

  • Understand  the concept and model of Slow Tourism.
  • Be able to recognise key fragments of the movement and design a plan of best practice for any town wanting to adopt Slow Tourism.

Social work in UK

  • Develop an awareness of the various Social Sector opportunities within the UK.
  • See first-hand a variety of social enterprises in action.
  • Draw comparison between the UK’s Social sector and that of participants’ home country.
  • Understand the history and significant role the social sector plays within the UK today.

English and football

  • Gain an understanding of the football within the culture of Wales.
  • Experience first-hand approach to football training and match -day preparation.
  • Improve football skills the approved training session with highly qualified coaches.
  • Develop English language using 4 skills of reading ,  istening, speaking and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary – English Course can either be football based and themed, covering all the terminology used in the game and using material related to the sports , giving students a complete football experience or can be of general English.

English and golf

  • Gain a deeper understanding of golf club etiquette in Wales
  •  Improve golfing technique through tuition with highly qualified golf coaches.
  • Develop English language using the 4 skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary- English course can be golf based and themed, be general English,or, if preferred can be business English.

English and rugby

  • Gain a deeper understanding of rugby within the culture of Wales and the UK.
  • Experience first- hand approach to rugby training and match-day preparation.
  • Improve rugby skills through training sessions with highly-qualified coaches.
  • Develop English language using 4 skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary.

Debating in English 

  • Develop an awareness for the skills and strategies used when challenging others ideas with a fair and articulate approach.
  • Build self confidence in public speaking.
  • Develop English skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening through the elements of performance. and drama.

English and drama

  • Develop an awareness of stage presence and space.
  • Build self confidence in public performance.
  • Develop English skills of reading writing, speaking and listening through the elements of performance and drama.
